Yosemite preferences4/3/2023 There are two things you must be aware of when planning your visit: While the national park border spans a large area and includes sister destinations like Hetch Hetchy, you will only have time to explore the Yosemite Valley on a day trip. ![]() This means knowing where to spend the majority of your time and understanding the layout of the park. But with only one day in Yosemite available, it is important to spend your time wisely. Visiting Yosemite is easily one of the best things to do in California. □ Understanding the Yosemite Valley El Capitan and Half Dome are two of the iconic sights you will see with our one day itinerary. The good news is, that with one day in Yosemite, the spectacular Yosemite Valley will provide you with plenty to see and do. When the road is closed, the only access to Glacier Point, Sentinel Dome, Taft Point, and other Glacier Point Road destinations is via a long, strenuous hike. It is not possible to drive to Glacier Point when Glacier Point Road is closed.Ĭheck the NPS website for current road closures. Due to this, thirty-minute delays are possible from spring through fall of 2023.įrom approximately mid-December through March, the first five miles of this road are open to the Badger Pass Ski Area. Glacier Point Road Closure 2023Ĭonstruction began on Glacier Point Road in 2022 and some of this will continue into 2023. However, a reservation will not be required in summer 2023. This coincides with Yosemite Firefall, an event that attracts many visitors each year (and well worth it!). ⚠️ *IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2023* Reservations for 2023Īn entrance reservation will be required to drive into Yosemite for visitors arriving February 10–12, February 17–19, or February 24–26, 2023. On that note, we highly recommend you begin your day with an iconic Yosemite sunrise at Tunnel View and plan to stay through sunset. While this is more difficult to achieve with just one day in Yosemite to work with, we were diligent in creating an itinerary that puts you at the best locations in the park for sunrise, mid-day, and sunset. This means not only seeing the Yosemite must-see sights, but being there at the best time of day!
